LADS PosterZine

Risograph & Zine creation

EXPERIENCE:

While working as an Intern at Cobalt Studios, I helped develop and grow the LADS programme, an initiative supporting FLINTA* individuals in music and creative practice. As part of this role, I devised a series of educational posters designed to make key workshop information more accessible and engaging. Recognising that posters are often displayed and kept as visual objects, I wanted to create materials that were both aesthetically appealing and genuinely useful, with detailed information printed on the reverse side to reinforce learning beyond the sessions themselves.

I coordinated workshops covering promotion, music production, and mixing vinyl, with each session accompanied by its own bespoke poster! The concept was transforming the posters into a zine-like format (inspired by PosterZine) having a poster of the front and information on the back. Most of the posters were printed using the Risograph printer at Cobalt Studios, a process that required experimentation and technical learning but loved working with in the end!

Each design was created in Adobe Illustrator, combining custom illustrations with Illustrator’s 3D tools to produce bold and dynamic compositions. During the development process, I revised the language used in the materials to ensure it reflected the inclusive values of the programme, changing the statement from "women” to more inclusive "like minded people who love music" to represent everyone in the FLINTA* community.
