EXPERIENCE:
LADS is a monthly, in-person music workshop for women and gender-expansive / gender non-conforming people. I have volunteered as a co-coordinator for the past two years, and during my time as an intern at Cobalt Studios I became deeply immersed in the project. LADS is a community I care about greatly, and one that has played an important role in my creative and personal life.
As part of the LADS mix series, I designed the artwork for each release. Every mix features a unique 3D abstract form, modelled in Blender, which twists and folds into itself with shifting colours and textures. The forms are inspired by the idea of a shell, something that holds sound, where music feels contained yet resonant, creating a visual metaphor for listening, intimacy, and shared space. While each artwork is individual to the artist, the series maintains a cohesive visual language.
After exporting the 3D models, I completed the final artwork in Illustrator, designing the accompanying typography, overlays, and layout. Each mix is released on the Cobalt Studios SoundCloud, with the visuals acting as an extension of the community, care, and experimentation that defines LADS.
