EXPERIENCE:
This dates post video was created for Nectax to announce upcoming shows. The concept was developed by researching his existing visual language, which often references brutalist plants and urban textures. I gathered and combined footage of street environments and natural elements such as leaves to reflect this contrast between organic and industrial forms.
The piece was built in TouchDesigner, which I taught myself. I created a layered visual system using multiple video sources controlled through a switch board, allowing for dynamic transitions between different visual states. The animation is audio-reactive and mapped to the kick of one of Nectax’s tracks, so that changes in intensity directly drive movement within the visuals.
I developed additional effects in TouchDesigner that transform the footage into delayed, blobby, and glitch-like forms, creating a fluid sense of distortion. Generative blob elements shaped as numbers and abstract imagery were also introduced to merge information with texture, helping build anticipation toward the final reveal.
The typography was kept minimal using Helvetica, contrasting the experimental visuals while maintaining clarity. The final dates were layered as the concluding structural element of the piece.
It was really fun to use my self-taught technical skills with visual research and sound-driven design. Using TouchDesigner, I translated audio into a responsive visual system while exploring experimental approaches to collage, motion, and typography within a promotional format!
