Event Artwork & Animation

EXPERIENCE:

Naina approached me to create an event poster and animation for her All Night Long set at Carpet Shop. The mood board centred around a chrome, gothic aesthetic, which I used as a foundation to reflect both her sonic identity and visual brand.

To emphasise that the event was centred around her as an artist, I created a bespoke typographic treatment for her name. I combined script and serif typefaces, then converted them into 3D forms to give the design more presence. By duplicating the text and applying contrasting materials, one chromatic and one deep purple. I created a layered, bold visual that echoes the metallic, nocturnal mood of the concept.

The abstract forms were designed in Blender using the snake hook tool, along with deform and mirror modifiers to generate fluid, sculptural shapes. These elements add movement and depth to the composition while complementing the chrome textures and gothic tone of the piece.

I explored several colour schemes during the design process, with purple ultimately chosen for the final poster. The turquoise variation is also shown here as part of the development process.

A key challenge was balancing the lighting and reflections to achieve an ethereal yet dark atmosphere. Some early renders had too much glare, which made parts of the poster difficult to read. I refined the compositing parameters and material settings to reduce the glare while maintaining the chrome effect and overall mood.

You can see some of the work-in-progress stages above, which show how the visuals evolved throughout the process. I really enjoyed working on this project and love creating animations that add an extra layer of engagement to visual design. So happy to hear the event sold out too!
